4:30 came early this morning, but pre-trip anxiety prevented us from sleeping in. When daylight finally crept in, we were delighted to see that the rain had subsided, it hadn't changed to snow after all (good thing, because we must have gotten 10 inches of rain last night), the sun was peeking through, and the roads were quite passable. We were rolling down the highway by 7:20. The weather was great until Sturbridge, MA, where we were greeted by a mini-blizzard. That was rather disconcerting since the weather channel had promised sunshine in Hartford. We were in and out of snow squalls from then on; every time we would start thinking that maybe we should quit early and call it a day, the snow would stop, the sun would come out, and the roads would dry off. So we would praise the Lord again and would just keep on going. Our goal was to get past Scranton if we could, and hopefully on the west side of the big storm that was still battering New Jersey. God is great! We made it almost to Harrisburg, where we decided to stop for the night. Found a great Best Western with a heated pool and an exercise room. We have already had a good work-out; now for the pool! Looks like a wonderful relaxing evening. Thank you for your prayers!
We just talked to Sam; he is in Gillette, Wyoming, on his way to a town in S. Dakota, about 160 miles more before they can rest tonight. Long day for them! Keep them in your prayers.

Glad to hear that you are relaxing and safely on your way. I talked to a computer sales rep at work today who is in Portland - she says they received 6 inches of rain and much of the city is flooded. You left just in time before the snow hits on top of all that rain this weekend.
Good Saturday Morning, I am just getting to this blog thing, this is FUN. Glad to know that all is well in everyone's travels (= How was the pool? Did you guy's call Jay and Erin?? They are about 10 min away (= The major storm has just missed us. Instead of getting 3' we only got 1foot and rain. Will check back in later. Have FUN !!!! Love, RAGGMOPP
Claud,
We had no idea that we are 10 minutes away from Jay. WAY Too sad. We would definitely had called them. As it is, we plan to leave around 7 or 8am, so it won't work this time. I am pretty sure he is getting this blog mail. I guess they didn't check it last night or they probably would have called us. We plan to see them in Florida in about 3 weeks, so this will give us something to talk and laugh about.
The pool was great!

Glad you made it through worst of storm. Hope to see you Sunday evening.
We are looking forward to seeing Sam and family but understand he might not be able to make it now due to unanticipated delays. The good news is that they will not be that far away and can visit whenever.
Hey you guys! This blog is so much fun. Sounds like you are having a great time. James & I would love to see you when you arrive in GA. Keep us posted with your ETA to Covington & we will try to make it there. Our work schedules are very inflexible, so we will try our best. Be safe. Can't wait for your next post! Oh, are Sam & family arriving in Covinton at the same time?

So, are you there yet or what? :) Still snowing here and windy - good thing you didn't keep coming to Ohio - you would have had more sloppy roads to drive on.
